The MACD (Moving Average Convergence Divergence) may sound a little complicated at first, but in reality it’s a very simple trading tool. You can think of it like a meter that tells you three important things: whether the market is moving up or down, whether the trend is strong or weak, and when the momentum is changing. The MACD is made up of three parts. The first is the MACD Line, which shows the difference between two moving averages (12 EMA and 26 EMA). The second is the Signal Line, which is basically a 9 EMA that smooths out the MACD line and makes the signals clearer. The third is the Histogram, which is shown as small bars above or below zero, and these bars tell you how strong the momentum is at that moment. Reading MACD is quite straightforward: when the MACD line crosses above the signal line, it usually means a buy signal. When it crosses below, that’s a sell signal. If the histogram bars are above zero, buyers are in control, and if they are below zero, sellers are stronger. ⚙️ How to Set MACD in Olymp Trade? For a Buy trade, make sure the price is above the 200 EMA, the MACD line crosses above the Signal line, the histogram turns positive, and a green candle closes—then you enter. For a Sell trade, just follow the same rules in reverse: price below 200 EMA, MACD crossing down, histogram negative, and a red candle closing. ⏱️ Best Expiry Time for MACD When you trade MACD on a 5-minute chart, the best expiry is around 10–15 minutes (about 2–3 candles).
